Fishing on the river Spey

Kingussie offers a wide range of loch and river fishing making an ideal base for the visiting angler. Among the species encountered are brown trout, salmon and pike.

The Badenoch Angling Club was formed in the mid 1960s and controls fishing from the mouth of the River Tromie to the Spey Dam at Laggan, a distance of 15 miles. There is also fishing alongside the A86 side of Loch Laggan and at parts of Loch Ericht.

There is private fishing on Loch Gynack, a short drive from the centre of Kingussie to Pitmain Lodge. Permits are available from Service Sports, 01540 661228 for session prices.  Loch Gynack is a brown trout loch for fly fishing by boat only.

Slightly further afield Grantown-on-Spey is a 30 minute drive and has some world class Salmon and Sea Trout fishing. Contact www.speyfishing-grantown.co.uk for permit details.
