Kingussie is a great cycling hub

Kingussie just happens to be in the middle of Scotland’s land mass or from a cycling perspective you could say it is at the very “hub” of Scotland. It is the venue for the Scottish Bikeathon, in aid of charity, which has been held in June for over 20 years. More recently this has been extended to a weekend cycling event through the creation of Bikefest Scotland, held on the day before the Bikeathon.

Starting in 2015 cycling activities in the area have been brought under the umbrella of Cycle Friendly Kingussie.

Activities include:

  • The annual Bikefest Scotland each June
  • Starting in June 2016 this will include the Bikeathon charity event
  • Mapping of local trails for both online usage and new information boards
  • Regular weekly ride-outs on local trails
  • Training and skills e.g. Velotech and First Aid
  • Promotion of cycling with local employers and schools.
