SCOTTISH BIKEATHON KINGUSSIE 2014
15 Jun 2014 (All day)
We are looking for teams (of 2 or more people) or individuals to enter the 22nd LLR Scottish Bikeathon on June 15th 2014.
The Scottish Bikeathon has been taking place since 1993 and over the previous 21 events the Bikeathon has raised over £700,000 – a remarkable achievement for an area with a relatively low population. It is this rural backdrop in the Cairngorms National Park which makes this event quite different from the other LLR Bikeathons around Britain.
The Scottish Bikeathon raises money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research through entrants’ sponsorship. We guarantee that every penny you raise goes directly to the LLR.
All administration costs are met by the £10 entry fee (£5 child) to the event.
All entrants receive an ‘Entry Pack’ which contains an event T-shirt, information, route map and of course, sponsor forms.
All entrants receive a commemorative medal at the finish of the event.
For this year’s event, the 22nd Scottish Bikeathon, the organisers in Badenoch & Strathspey would be delighted to welcome teams old and new and individuals to come to Kingussie to participate inthe 26 mile cycle on quiet roads through the beautiful scenery of ‘Monarch of the Glen’ country. This year the expected 500-600 cyclists will follow the route from Kingussie to Insh, Rothiemurchus and back via Kincraig.
The Scottish Bikeathon is a social cycle run that people return to year after year from all over Scotland and beyond. Many see it as an opportunity to meet up with old friends, some use it as a personal challenge, while other dress up and have afun day.
Importantly for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, entrants raise funds to help beat blood cancers. Last year’s event raised over £37,000 and, of course, for our 22nd, we would like to equal or even surpass that total.
If you think you are able to get a team together (family, colleagues, friends etc.) or to cycle on your own we would be delighted to hear from you as soon as possible.
