Little Town of Festivals

In the small Highland town of Kingussie, situated in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, community groups have been organizing a number of successful annual events and festivals for many years, some of which are nationally recognized. These groups have decided to come together and create a calendar of unique and exciting festivals with one for each month of the year - turning Kingussie into “A Little Town Of Festivals”.

Eating out

Kingussie has some of the finest eateries in the area catering for all taste and budget from award-winning tea and cake shop to four stars restaurant. People here are passionate about food and proud to showcase the quality of the local products and skills in their menus .

Kingussie - a great cycling hub.

Kingussie just happens to be in the middle of Scotland’s land mass or from a cycling perspective you could say it is at the very “hub” of Scotland.   It is the venue for the Scottish Bikeathon, in aid of charity, which has been held  in June for over 20 years. More recently this has been extended to a weekend cycling event through the creation of Bikefest Scotland, held on the day before the Bikeathon.

Occupying a central position in the Cairngorm National Park, Kingussie provides an ideal base for water sports. Summer is the peak time when the weather is better and the water temperatures rise, but the rivers can be higher in spring and autumn making river sports more interesting to many enthusiasts.

Winter Sports

Kingussie is an ideal base for a winter sports holiday, the snow usually arrives in early December and stays on the mountains until mid April.

Cairngorm Mountain, Scotland's largest ski area, is a 30 minute car journey and caters for all standards of skiing and snowboarding abilities as well as offering ski hire and tuition for beginners and a funicular railway uplift.  Cairngorm Mountain website and webcams .
