Sun shines on Bikeathon / Bikefest 2016
This year’s big cycling event on 5th June was another great success and with the weather playing its part a grand time was had by one and all.
Although now in its 24th year, this was also something of a new start for the Kingussie Bikeathon with new charity sponsor Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland. But Paul Corrigan and the CHSS team did a fine job getting over 300 riders off and underway from the start at the High School. Not to mention all the organisation, stewarding and congratulating the riders with medals at the finish line.
Bikeathon photos are available on the CHSS website.
Meanwhile at Ardvonie Park the annual Bikefest got underway in perfect conditions.
Once again the Scottish Clan stunt team provided 3 excellent shows and some quite impossible jumps. The coaching corner proved as popular as ever, there were balance bike races for younger children and cycle-themed stalls providing plenty of opportunity to demo the latest models of cycles and electric bikes. Plus there was plenty of food and refreshments on offer, not to forget the ice cream! All in all a great festival of cycling.
