It is time to catch those lovely colours of autumn leaves; take your camera on a day with some sun and catch a group of trees lit up by the sun with their varied colours.
You will notice groups of trees that are identical in colour and form and they stand out. These are probably Aspens and the reason they all look the same, is that they are the same organism. The individual stems come from a common large root system. The group are a referred to as a clone. Some of them become crimson in some years others are always golden yellow and some hardly get beyond dirty green. The back road to Insh passing Ruthven is a rich hunting ground.
