Object & Memory with Eleanor White (SBSA) - Cairngorms Learning Partnership

23 Apr 2016 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

Course Details
Eleanor is the main tutor at Bridge House Art and has a broad range of teaching experience. She continues to be a visiting tutor at the Leith School of Art Edinburgh
This course will be comprised of an evening talk (Friday 22nd April 2016 7-9pm) and a full day workshop (Saturday 23rd April 2016 10am-4pm)

Every object tells a story; how it has been used, the places it has been, whether its significance has grown over its life or deteriorated over time.

The course will look at objects that surround us every day whether they have been treasured and then discarded and have the wear of weather ingrained into their surface or objects that are still used and overlooked in the daily grind. Both natural and man- made objects will be used as inspiration for the day and we will explore them though mixed media drawing with both observation and a lean towards abstraction

This talk & workshop will cover:

- How to look afresh at everyday objects
- What makes an object interesting
- Using an object to create a narrative within an image
- The use of subject/object in work
- Using simple writing responses to the objects as a starting point to the image
- Using Asemic writing
- A chance to try mixed media drawing in a bold manner
