This course will offer a comprehensive introduction to jacket making.
You will build confidence in making and sewing the jacket, alter a pattern to suit your size and prepare & sew your materials.
The aim of the course is to make you confident in making & sewing a jacket by:
- Understanding how to measure your body and altering a paper pattern to suit your body shape & size
- How to lay out & cut your pattern
- The importance of notches & tailor tacks
- Preparing your garment for sewing
- Understanding basic construction, including pressing techniques
The course will also cover using interfacing, setting in sleeves, lining, buttonholes & buttons
Notes will be supplied throughout the course & some homework may be required in order for you to complete the jacket.

A good knowledge of basic sewing techniques.
A pre-course meeting with the tutor will be arranged about a month before the course to discuss your chosen pattern and suitable fabrics.
