Laggan Cottage’ as it was known when it was first built in 1880, was part of a larger building which was commissioned by the Parochial Board of Kingussie to provide ‘poor house’ facilities for itinerant workers and other poor people in the area. It was later sold privately and used as a family home until 1990, when part of it was first converted to provide Bed and Breakfast accommodation. The front cottage was then blocked off from the main house and now has independent and private access.

The main part of the building was renamed ‘The Auld Poor House’ and provided Bed and Breakfast accommodation until January 2008. Since then it too has provided self-catering accommodation.

The cottage comes fully furnished with everything you may need during your self-catering stay. The lounge is delightful with an open fire ensuring warm, cosy evenings. It is equipped with satellite TV, DVD, video, CD player and radio. The bedrooms are spacious and are provided with bedding and bed linen (duvets and spare blankets provided). The dining kitchen is fully equipped. No need to bring tea-towels, cleaning  materials or even toilet rolls! Telephone or email for full inventory.

There is a drying room (which has shared use with guests in The Auld poor House) next to the ground floor shower-room, with washing machine and tumble drier. Basic baby facilities are provided - high chair, cot with bedding, safety fireguard and stair gate.

The cottage offers full ground floor access with a 4 foot bed located off the lounge. Access to the cottage is via level paving, both from front and back.

All sockets and light switches are located at an accessible level, as are the controls for the electric cooker. Taps in the kitchen and shower room are of the lever type.
