In order to promote the
use of the best local food produce in cooking ,the Academy organises four
markets in Kingussie; one for each season of the year. All but the winter
market are held on the streets of the village; with a wet weather
alternative in Talla Nan Ros on King Street in Kingussie. The range of local
produce is growing with each market held and the emphasis is on LOCAL and
QUALITY. To date the range of produce showcased so far includes cheese,
meat, smoked fish and meat, seafood, fruit, breads, cakes and pastries,
herbs, honey, onions & garlic; pies & black puddings, chutneys, preserves
and dressings. In addition there are stalls offering food 'to go' such as
pancakes, smoothies, soup and beverages.

The Winter market is
part of the Kingussie Food on Film Festival weekend with a Food Hall on the
Saturday afternoon held in Kingussie High School. The next Festival is
Friday and Saturday 5th and 6th February 2010.
