BY RAIL

The railway follows a route north through the Drumochter Pass. The Highland Chieftain express and the Caledonian sleeper both from London stop at Kingussie Station, as do many trains from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Perth, before proceeding to the Highland Capital City of Inverness.  At Inverness there are connections to Aberdeen (for ferries to Shetland), Kyle of Lochalsh (Skye Bridge) and Wick/Thurso (for ferries to the Orkney Islands).  Special off-peak offers from Great North Eastern Railways (GNER) enable travellers to visit this idyllic area at very economical rates.  Car hire can be arranged locally.
