BY ROAD

The A9 trunk road joins Perth, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh to Inverness,  it cuts through the wilderness of the Drumochter Pass providing a natural gateway to The Highlands.  The scenery becomes dramatic and bleak and it is easy to begin to wonder, anxiously  how far the next town is. Well, from the descent of the Drumochter Pass the next northern town is Kingussie approximately 16 miles distant.  Follow the signposts from the A9 to the village of Newtonmore  (petrol filling station here) and within 2 miles you will be in the centre of Kingussie with its shops, cafes, restaurants and choice of places to stay.
