Badenoch Angling Association was formed in the mid 60’s with the aim of improving fishing in the Badenoch area. The Association control fishing on the River Spey from the mouth of the River Tromie to the Spey Dam at Laggan, mostly double bank. There is also fishing on the A86 side of Loch Laggan and part of Loch Ericht.

The fishing is mostly brown trout with the occasional salmon. There’s also some pike fishing between Lochan Uvie and Laggan and Loch Laggan itself holds some specimen pike.

Location – just follow the A9 to Newtonmore or Kingussie and you’re there!

It is with deep regret that the President and Office Bearers of Badendoch Angling Association have to report the death of Sandy Bennett, Water Baliff, on 3rd April 2009. Sandy was known to many fishermen visiting the area during his 32 years of loyal dedicated service to the association and he will be sorely missed by his fishing friends and all who knew him.
For boats on Spey Dam contact Monadhliath Hotel, Laggan on 01528 544276. Two new boats have been launched on the dam for the 2009 season and electric motors are now permitted. These can also be hired from the hotel.
